April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July, began taking piano and guitar lessons from seven years old. She was interested in creating songs was sparked. At the age of 12 when she wrote her first single, Different. When she was 14 April, she spent a lot of time writing lyrics and perfecting her music abilities. The songwriting began alongside her father at home in NY and LA shortly after. April was also able to add other themes in the track "Take My Hand" for some of friends who dealt with concerns like peer pressure problems, as well as teens who committed suicide. Lockhart is a partner at popular clean beauty brand Ilia and also is a lifestyle influencer with a huge following of her own. Her birthplace didn't come having a left-handed hand, which is the reason she's who she is. But that's far from the whole story. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability on Instagram, but she doesn't make it the focus of her story. What message is it trying to convey? We are all more than our physical selves. Our identities are multifaceted and encompass a variety of dimensions. Lockhart has stated on video that she doesn't wish to be defined by her disability. She doesn't want to become an advocate for disabled people who only talks about disability. There are a lot of aspects to Lockhart. My everyday life isn't affected by it. I lead a normal daily life, and come up with myself solutions for problems. It's also a part of me, and I believe it should be discussed. Lockhart encourages us to keep striving to be self-accepting. Still she admits she's gone through periods of being uncomfortable with her body and sometimes not being confident in wearing certain types of clothing that showed off her arms. She wears whatever she wants and proudly posts pictures of herself in the outfits she picks out on social platforms. She says that self-love is a journey. I'm not sure when you'll reach the point of no return. However, I believe that's the case with everyone with whatever their insecurity is.
